Day 1 of the 6 Days Uganda gorilla safari Mgahinga National Park: Arrive at Kigali airport arrival for pick up and transfer to your hotel for the night in Kigali.

Depending on your arrival time, you will find your Rwanda safari guide waiting for you at the airport. Upon arrival, he will welcome you and give you a short briefing about your safari in Rwanda. You will then be transferred from the airport to your prior booked accommodation for the night. Freshen, rest, have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2 of the 6 Days Uganda gorilla safari Mgahinga National Park: Transfer from Kigali to Mgahinga National Park Uganda  

Early in the morning, after your breakfast, you will be picked up from the hotel by the company Uganda safari guide for your Kigali city tour and later transfer to Kisoro town located in the southwestern Uganda. On your journey, you will enjoy the view of the rolling hills and Landscapes of Rwanda and Kisoro. Check in at the lodge and rest for the next day activity.

This tiny little park is in the far southern regions of Uganda, south of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. It is a mere 33 sq km (13 sq mile) in size but the the size of the Park is very deceptive because it is packed with adventure attractions. Day 3 of the 6 Days Uganda gorilla safari Mgahinga National Park: Do gorilla trekking in Mgahinga National Park Uganda

You will wake up early in the morning and take breakfast at your hotel/lodge, get your lunch packed. The Uganda gorilla trekking safari activity starts at 8am. Your driver guide will pick you up at your lodge and drive you to the park headquarters for briefing about your gorilla safari Uganda especially about the do’s and the don’ts of the gorilla trekking activity. You will then be led into the forest by the pack rangers in search for your habituated gorilla group. Habituated gorillas can tolerate presence of people for just a little time every day. As part of this adventure, you will sight several golden monkeys and other primates along the trail as they play around in the forest branches as they make different musical sounds. Upon sighting the gorillas, you will be restricted to an hour with them. In this hour, you will have an opportunity to watch them feed, play, build their nests, shy away from you which gives you an opportunity to photograph each moment that catches your eye. Coming face-to-face with a mountain gorilla is a truly humbling and emotional experience. This is a fantastic and privileged opportunity to get up close and personal with Uganda’s very own ‘Gorillas in the Mist’. Retreat from the activity and return to the lodge.

Day 4 of the 6 Days Uganda gorilla safari Mgahinga National Park: You will visit a Batwa Hideout at Garama Cave and return to the lodge

On this day you learn of the ancient ways of the Batwa; one of the indigenous tribes in the country. You will be led in the forest and show you as to how they once lived before they were evicted from the forests in 1991. You will also hike the Garama cave; a cave where the Batwa initially used to live. The cave is 343metres long and 14metres deep. Your guide will explain how the Batwa lived and fought from this cave. The walk to and from the cave passes through montane woodland with plenty of opportunities for birdwatching and a beautiful scenery. The Batwa Trail is also one way where the traditional cultural ways are kept alive for the next generation.  The walk also produces needed income for the Batwa Community in the area.

You will need two litres of bottled water, packed lunch and some snacks for you.

Day 5 of the 6 Days Uganda gorilla safari Mgahinga National Park: Hike Mount Sabinyo and return to your hotel

This hike requires some fitness because the trail may be a little demanding and sometimes difficult, so you need to be fit for a good long climbing session. The volcano is about 3.645 meters high and the climb may take 7 to 8 hours. You will carry with you a bottle of water and packed lunch as well. After the hike, you will return to your hotel, dine and rest. This marks the end of our Uganda safari tour.

Day 6 of the 6 Days Uganda gorilla safari Mgahinga National Park: Return to Kigali for your flight or preferred hotel

You will have early breakfast and return to Kigali.

Depending on your departure flight may decide to do a city tour in Kigali before your flight back home. You can visit the Genocide Memorial and Education Centre, which opened in 2004. It’s a dignified tribute to the victims, including a poignant Children’s Memorial, and a detailed description of the darkest hour in Rwanda’s recent history in time to catch your flight back home. You may also tour the craft shops in Kigali and the National Museum of Rwanda. Your driver guide will then take you to the airport in time for your flight home.
